Situated on a plateau, the monastery-fortress, built in the 10th century overlooks the Debed Valley. It probably contains the largest and most beautiful frescoes of Armenia.
Etimology of Akhtala means « white glade » opens every year the doors of its medieval esplanade to host a festival of the Armenian National dish: Khorovatz. Many legends revolve around this site and just waiting for you to be unveiled.
