Situated on a plateau, the monastery-fortress, built in the 10th century overlooks the Debed Valley. It probably contains the largest and most beautiful frescoes of Armenia.
Etimology of Akhtala means “white glade” opens every year the doors of its medieval esplanade to host a festival of the Armenian National dish: Khorovatz. Many legends revolve around this site and just waiting for you to be unveiled.
